Tere jaisa yaar kahan… in reality

I sing this song “tere jaisa yaar kahaan” quite often on days that I am missing my friends and family or just when life has its toll on me.

But there are few instances when you really get to understand the meaning of some of the songs we sing, hear or hum. Today while looking at the videos and photos of Rishi bhai’s 50th birthday celebration, it was truly a reminiscence of the song, the meaning behind it and the true essence of friendship.

5 out of the 6 friends holding the mic and singing the song, the lyrics of which can make the toughest of men or women cry out loud. And the sisth person sitting miles away, though missing in this picture but truly present in between them at event moment, conversation and laugh.

Do we know about these amazing moments when we start a friendship? Hell no. But do we yearn to be friends for life? Hell yes. Classic example is when you ask a little kid who is your best friend, they can tell you that in a giffy in a number sequence. At that point in their life those friend that they have are for life.

These friends are also very similar. Almost 50 years ago, all of them came together for some reason or the other- school, neighbours, cousins. But the amazing part is that glue being intact today as well, along with their families, partners and kids. In this fast moving world, I feel this is a big feat.

Kudos to this group of friends who have done what it takes to be here today in person or in spirits. And my love and emotion will always be there.
