“What Running has Taught Me About Leadership”

I believe that there are no good runners nor bad runners - there are just runners.
Running has a special place in my heart and mind. A casual activity that started during pandemic to keep myself sane, is now a ritual that I follow to keep myself fit and focused.
My love for running has only deepened over the past five years, and more so after I made the big move from Melbourne to Seattle, a couple of years ago.
I draw a lot of parallels between running and leadership which I, of course, had to share:
📈Consistency is everything - It is about showing up consistently even on days when it is tough.
🚀 It's not about how fast you go — it's about how you pace. In both running and leadership, knowing your terrain (your team, your customers, your environment) matters more than speed.
🌬️ Breathe through the setbacks - Keep breathing while working through setbacks when progress might seem slow. No two days are the same - in runs or in life.
💪 Push limits - yours and your team’s encouraging growth, celebrating small wins, and finding strength in the stretch.
Finally, one of the simplest and most human lessons - when you pass someone on the road, do pass a smile and wave your hand, it costs nothing but this small gesture could mean a lot.
